MEN’S & MIXED

LEAGUE OPERATIONS

 2005 - 2006

MEN’S LEAGUES: Monday and Tuesday 6:30 p.m. & 9:00 p.m.; Thursday 9:00 p.m.

MIXED LEAGUES: Thursday 6:30 p.m.; Friday 6:30 p.m.& 9:00 p.m.; Saturday 7:30 p.m.

LEAGUE OPERATIONS:

(A)              Monday, Tuesday and Friday draw times will alternate from week to week between 6:30 and 9:00 p.m.  Thursday draw times do not alternate.  Saturday draw time is 7:30 p.m.

(B)       Teams will curl eighteen games per season determined as follows:

EIGHT TEAM LEAGUE:  One (1) card game, two (2) round robins of seven (7) games each, split into two groups of four (Championship and Manager’s Cup) for one three (3) game round robin finish.

TWELVE TEAM LEAGUE:  Two (2) card games; one eleven (11) game round robin split into two groups of six (Championship and Manager’s Cup) for one five (5) game round robin finish.

TWO TEN TEAM LEAGUES:  One (1) round robin of nine (9) games, split into two (2) groups of ten (10) (Championship and Manager’s Cup) for one nine (9) game round robin finish.

LEAGUE WINNER:             The league winner is the team from “A” and “B” which has accumulated the most points over the entire eighteen (18) game season.  Ties for league winner will be resolved on the win/loss record between the teams concerned over the entire season.  If this does not break ties, then a single knockout playoff will be used to determine the league winner.

SECTION WINNER:           The section winner of “A” and “B” is the team, which has accumulated the most points in the last round robin split.  Ties for section winner will be resolved in the following order:  firstly, by the win/loss record between the teams concerned in the section games; secondly, by the win/loss record between the teams concerned over the full eighteen (18) games; thirdly, by a single knockout playoff between the teams concerned.

 

PLAYOFF QUALIFIERS:  Refer to League Playoff Format for teams qualified to play in the playoffs.  

The following rules will be in effect for the curling season.

1.                  Absolutely no rescheduling of any games except those rescheduled by the Club as a result of an unexpected interruption which affects the Club as a whole, or in the event a team is in a provincial competition, or equivalent and is forced to miss a regular league game, all reasonable efforts will be made to reschedule the game.  If rescheduling cannot be accommodated, the rules committee will make the final award for the un-played game.

2.                  No “4-point” games will be allowed.

3.         Any team defaulting a game shall make every effort to inform the opposing skip in advance. 

4.         Teams will be considered to consist of all players as registered on the application form.  Each mixed team shall have two male and two female players and the male and female players shall play alternate positions in the team’s delivery rotation.  In the case of a three person team, players must play alternating positions.  The skip shall inform the Board of Directors of player changes during league play that result from a player unable to complete the season, including any playoffs.  Changes in the registered team shall be in writing and submitted to the Board of Directors.

5.         Substitutions:    Unlimited substitutions will be allowed.  The team shall select a same gender alternate.

6.                   An end will be considered complete when all stones have come to rest and the score has been determined.

7.                   In the case of a team being a section winner and aggregate winner, the team will be deemed to be the section winner.

8.                  All games are scheduled 10 ends or to the bell.  When the bell sounds teams complete the end they are on and play one more end.

9.                  Complaints:  Complaints regarding rules and or league operations are to be voiced as soon as possible to the Rules Committee or one of the Club’s Directors.  Failure to lodge a complaint as soon as possible will void the complaint and the complainant shall have no recourse.

PLAYOFF RULES

2005 - 2006

1.        Playoff rules are in effect at the end of scheduled league play.

2.        Draws will commence at 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 8:00 a.m. through to 9:00 p.m. on weekends when required.

3.        Eight (8) end games will be played and extra ends if required, final games will be ten (10) ends.

4.        The bell will be used to determine the start of the draws.  If a team is late the opposing skip can take one point plus one end for each ten minutes.  After 30 minutes the game is defaulted.

5.        All substitutes must be a paid member in any league of the SACC.

6.        Substitutes can not be a player that is still participating in the playoffs.  Playoffs are defined as Club Championship (“A” Side) and/or Manager’s Cup (“B” Side).  Substitutes may be a player who has been eliminated from playoffs.

7.        Substitutes:  maximum two substitutions, playing at the lowest position possible.  No skips can be substituted.  The male and female players shall play alternate positions in the team’s delivery rotation.

NOTE:   In Playoffs the Club is unable to reschedule or adjust the playoff draw in the event that teams or individuals have scheduling conflicts resulting from having multiple playoff spots.  Extenuating circumstances will be considered only on appeal to the board in advance to the start of the playoffs.

Any SACC Director or the Club Manager will enforce rules on ineligible substitutes.  When an ineligible substitute is found prior to the start of the game, the player must be removed.  The team may add an eligible substitute or play with three players.  If an ineligible substitute is found during a game, the offending team will forfeit the game.  Agreement to waive ineligible substitution rule between teams will not be allowed.   

1.        MEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP  - “A” SECTIONS ONLY (City Playdown Club Representative.)

FORMAT:          Twelve Team Modified Double Knockout

QUALIFIERS:   Twelve teams will be selected for Men’s Club Championship as follows:

1.1            Five (5) SECTION Winners (from Club Championship Sections only) one from each league, total points over the last section play.

1.2            Five (5) LEAGUE Winners (from Club Championship Sections only) one from each league total points over all eighteen (18) games.

1.3            Two (2) Wild Cards – most points after A Section and League winners have been decided from all leagues over full eighteen games.

1.4            Ties will be resolved in the following order: firstly, by the win/loss record between the teams concerned in the section games, secondly, by the win/loss record between the teams concerned over the full eighteen games, and thirdly, by a single knockout tie-breaker between the teams concerned.

1.5         If a team declines to participate in playoffs, up to four teams will be notified to fill the vacancy; failing this, the spot will remain as a bye.

2.        MANAGER’S CUP – “B” SECTIONS ONLY

FORMAT:          Twelve Team Modified Double Knockout

QUALIFIERS:   Twelve teams will be selected for Manager’s Cup as follows:

2.1            Five (5) SECTION Winners (from Manager’s Cup Sections only) one from each league, total points over the last section play.

2.2            Five (5) LEAGUE Winners (from Manager’s Cup Sections only) one from each league total points over all eighteen (18) games.

2.3            Two (2) Wild Cards – most points after B Section and League winners have been decided from all leagues over full eighteen games.

2.4            Ties will be resolved in the following order: firstly, by the win/loss record between the teams concerned in the section games, secondly, by the win/loss record between the teams concerned over the full eighteen games, and thirdly, by a single knockout tie-breaker between the teams concerned.

3.1            Four (4) SECTION Winners (from Mixed Club Championship Sections only) one from each league, total points over the last section play.

3.2            Four (4) LEAGUE Winners (from Mixed Club Championship Sections only) one from each league total points over all eighteen (18) games.

3.3            Ties will be resolved in the following order: firstly, by the win/loss record between the teams concerned in the section games, secondly, by the win/loss record between the teams concerned over the full eighteen games, and thirdly, by a single knockout tie-breaker between the teams concerned.

3.4         If a team declines to participate in playoffs, up to four teams will be notified to fill the vacancy; failing this, the spot will remain as a bye.

4.        MANAGER’S CUP – “B” SECTIONS ONLY

FORMAT:          Eight Team Modified Double Knockout

QUALIFIERS:   Eight teams will be selected for Manager’s Cup as follows:

4.1            Four (4) SECTION Winners (from Manager’s Cup Sections only) one from each league, total points over the last section play.

4.2            Four (4) LEAGUE Winners (from Manager’s Cup Sections only) one from each league total points over all eighteen (18) games.

4.3            Ties will be resolved in the following order: firstly, by the win/loss record between the teams concerned in the section games, secondly, by the win/loss record between the teams concerned over the full eighteen games, and thirdly, by a single knockout tie-breaker between the teams concerned.

4.4         If a team declines to participate in playoffs, up to four teams will be notified to fill the vacancy; failing this, the spot will remain as a bye.
